   Ultrasonic scaling

Ultrasonic scaler, also called cavitron, is efficiently breaking and reducing heavy tartar. But hand scaling must follow cavitron scaling, because research shows that ultrasonic scalers only can remove 50% of total tartar buildup, even with an ultra-slim tip. Handle instruments are needed to take away tiny pieces of tartar.

The various stages of tissue inflammation/tartar formation are depicted in the above 4 frames. Type 1 periodontal disease shown in the first frame shows a slight amount of gum irritation/inflammation. This can progress through the next stages where there is more extensive tissue inflammation and resultant bone loss. Please note that the above illustration is a general example of gum disease.

   Polishing

There basically are two kinds of polisher: (1) prophy jet polishing and (2) rubber tip polishing with prophy paste. Prophy jet polishing works by spraying high pressured water mixed with baking soda paste onto the surface of your teeth.. Powered water can wash away the residue and plaque, while the baking soda can remove brown and yellow stains and neutralize the acidic conditions of your mouth. Rubber cup polishing employs a low-speed hand piece with a rubber cup tip mounted on the top. Inside the rubber cup is polishing paste, which contains abrasive ingredients for removing stains and fluoride for strengthening tooth enamel. The rubber cup is spinning slowly on the surface of the teeth. Also, the paste even comes with many pleasant flavors, such as mint, grape, watermelon, etc. Both polishing procedures above can polish stains away efficiently, and can be used to remove heavy stains if any.

   Bleaching

Everybody loves a bright white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of yours. Many people are satisfied with the sparkle they get from brushing twice daily with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, cleaning between their teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at your dentist's office. If you decide you would like to go beyond this to make your smile look brighter, you should investigate all of your options. You can take several approaches to whiten your smile: In-office bleaching; At-home bleaching; Whitening toothpastes

   Fillings

Modern dentistry has allowed us the pleasure of combining beauty as well as strength when filling teeth. We take pride in "restoring" teeth to as close to their original strength and appearance as possible with composite resins and ceramics. Since patient comfort is top priority, our clinical staff and doctors go the extra mile to make coming to the dentist a whole new positive experience. We offer Nitrous oxide, movies and music.

   Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy is designed to correct disorders of the dental pulp -- the soft tissue around the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Teeth with abscessed, or infected, nerves were once removed with corrective therapy. But now, in 95 percent of these cases of pulpal infection, the natural tooth can be saved through modern endodontic procedures. (Also called pulp specialists, endodontists have undergone specialized training in performing root canal therapy).

  Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are used to restore both anterior and posterior teeth that have been broken or are at high risk of doing so due to over-sized old fillings or fractures. There are a variety of materials used to construct these and by working with the finest laboratories in the country we are pleased to produce crowns that look and feel like your real teeth. Bridges are fixed, or non-removable prosthesis constructed to replace one or more missing teeth. The teeth on either side of the existing space are used to anchor the bridge to restore functionality as well as esthetics. We are now able to construct beautiful porcelain over metal as well as full porcelain and resin-based bridges to produce the best results for each particular situation.

   reventive Dentistry (Sealants)

A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth — premolars and molars. This plastic resin bonds into the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the chewing surfaces of back teeth. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids. Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth. But toothbrush bristles cannot reach all the way into the depressions and grooves to extract food and plaque. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by "sealing out" plaque and food.

   Prosthetic Dentistry

A dental prosthesis is an artificial device used to replace a missing part of the mouth or throat (oral cavity). Common types of dental prostheses include crowns, dentures, orthodontic appliances, obturators, palatal lift prostheses, and speech bulbs. Dental prostheses can work in conjunction with surgical reconstruction, offer an alternative to rehabilitation when surgical reconstruction can not be achieved, or is preferred by the patient. A Dentist (Maxillofacial Prosthodontist) is responsible for the design, treatment, and maintenance phases of providing a dental prosthesis. A Dentist will provide the Dental Technician with a prescription detailing how the dental prosthesis should be made. A dental prosthesis works to restore esthetics (appearance) and function (chewing, swallowing, and speaking). Dental prostheses are secured in place using the remaining tissues. The introduction of dental implants has made a big difference in the retention and stability of dental appliances. Dental prostheses may or may not need to be replaced over time. A dental prosthesis can last longer if it is well maintained and monitored. Dental prostheses may or may not be covered by either medical or dental insurance and will vary depending upon the country, region, state, or province.

   Implants

Dental Implants have been in use for the last forty years. During this period, dental implants have been used successfully in replacing missing teeth. Implants restore both aesthetics & function to a degree which is closest to the natural teeth than other methods.

What is an Implant?
Modern implants are made of commercially pure titanium which when inserted into the jaw bone becomes firmly bonded to the surrounding bone & thus can be used to support an artificial crown or bridge. They are cylindrical in shape with a diameter of about 4 mm & a variable length of 8 – 17 mm. Generally, they function in a similar way to that of the natural root of a tooth. read more by clicking here
